The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), Gombe State Chapter, has paid a courtesy visit to the newly established Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, pledging to collaborate with the agency in promoting inclusive education and welfare for persons with disabilities.

The visit, which was part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of CSACEFA, provided an avenue for the coalition to commend the state government for its commitment to inclusion.
Speaking during the visit, the Gombe State Coordinator of CSACEFA, Halima Mahdi, said the coalition was at the Commission to congratulate its leadership and express willingness to partner on key educational initiatives targeting children and youth with disabilities.
“We are here to congratulate the Commission on its establishment and to show our readiness to work together, especially in ensuring that children with disabilities are not left behind in education,” Mahdi said.
“We also discussed the issue of children being used as guides by persons with disabilities while their peers are in school. This is an area we intend to support through advocacy and community engagement.”
As part of the visit, CSACEFA donated exercise books to support the education of children living with disabilities.
Responding, the Chairman of the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disabilities appreciated CSACEFA for the visit and the donation, describing it as a show of solidarity and commitment to inclusion.
“We are grateful for this gesture and the promise of partnership. The Commission looks forward to collaborating with CSACEFA on programmes that will enhance access to education and improve the welfare of persons with disabilities,” he said.
Mahdi also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for establishing the Commission and appointing a capable chairman, noting that the move reflects the governor’s inclusive approach to governance.
“We must commend His Excellency for this bold step. The creation of the Commission and the choice of its leadership demonstrate that this administration truly values inclusion and equal opportunity for all,” she added.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the visit is one of several engagements lined up by CSACEFA to commemorate its 25 years of advancing education for all in Nigeria.
