A late-night fire has destroyed a scrap yard at Kasuwan Katako in Gombe, the State Police Command confirmed on Wednesday.
The incident, which occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, razed an expansive business premises belonging to Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the owner reported the incident to the Command on Wednesday morning.
“The complainant informed the Command that the fire outbreak occurred on 18th November 2025 at about 2200hrs, affecting his business premises where he deals in scrap metals, used doors, plumbing materials, office furniture, timbers, plywoods, tiles, tyres, satellite dishes, and assorted scrap items,” Abdullahi said.
He added that the fire completely engulfed the yard and destroyed all items on the premises, though the total value of the losses has not yet been determined.
Police operatives from the division visited the scene shortly after receiving the report.
“Detectives conducted a preliminary assessment of the incident and took photographs as part of the investigative process,” the PPRO stated.
The Command confirmed that no life was lost in the incident.
“Importantly, no loss of life or injury was recorded during the fire outbreak,” Abdullahi noted.
He assured members of the public that the matter is under investigation, adding “Under the leadership of CP Bello Yahaya, the Command has commenced a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. Further developments will be communicated in due course.”
