The Gombe State Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, in collaboration with Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Landscape (ACReSAL), has organised a step-down training aimed at sensitising and creating awareness on agriculture, food, and nutrition system transformation among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the training, held at the Conference Hall of the State Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, featured presentations on various topics, including System Thinking in Food System Transformation, Applying System Thinking in Practice, and Understanding System Behaviors and Archetypes in Food Systems.
Declaring the training open, the Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Bello Abubakar Kumo, emphasised the critical role of agriculture in Gombe State’s economic development and food security. He urged participants to utilise the skills and knowledge acquired to improve agriculture, food production, and livelihoods in the state.
Kumo also commended the Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya-led administration for its efforts in promoting agricultural practices and food production in the state, saying the state government is working tirelessly to make Gombe a model for other states to emulate in terms of agricultural practices and food production.
The Director Planning Research and Statistics, Eli Isa Posugur, stated that the training aimed to enhance collaboration between MDAs to boost agriculture and food production. He appreciated the state coordinator of ACResal for facilitating and supporting the training.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included the Director Administration and Finance of the Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Alh Shaibu Chiroma, and the State Coordinator of ACResal, Dr. Adamu Sani Jauro, who was represented by Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Jalo, emphasised the importance of sharing knowledge acquired with others.
Participants at the training included representatives from various MDAs, including the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Commerce, and Gombe State Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) and the Host ministry of Water, Environment and Forest Resources.
