The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) on Saturday visited and donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kufai Ahmadu and Chanchanji, both in Takum Local Government Area of the state.
Nigerian Tribune reports that over 50 people have so far been killed, 300 houses destroyed, and about 3,000 families displaced in the last four weeks in Chanchanji Ward of Takum LGA following attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Meanwhile, Dr. Echuseh Audu, the Executive Secretary of TSEMA, said during the visit to the two IDP camps that the gesture was part of the state government’s humanitarian efforts to ensure that affected persons are not subjected to further hardship as a result of the attacks.
She stated that the agency was committed to ensuring that the communities receive timely support, adding that the intervention aligns with Governor Agbu Kefas’ Five-Point Agenda, which demonstrates TSEMA’s unwavering commitment to assisting those impacted by the crisis.
Earlier, Chief Benjamin Bako, the Chairman of Takum LGA, who was accompanied by the Commander of the Nigerian Army 6 Brigade, Jalingo, expressed Governor Agbu Kefas’ readiness to tackle insecurity across Taraba State.
Describing the intervention as timely, Chief Bako expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas and TSEMA for the prompt humanitarian assistance.
“This gesture reflects Governor Agbu Kefas and the state government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting peace and stability across Taraba State,” he said.
Our correspondent reports also reports that the Headquarters 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), launched a special operation codenamed OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA during the visit to the IDP camps.
Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, explained in a statement that OPERATION ZAFIN WUTA is designed to strengthen both kinetic and non-kinetic measures in Southern Taraba as part of efforts to restore peace and stability across the state.
The statement quoted the Commander, 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, as reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and restoring lasting security in the area.
While sympathising with the displaced persons, the Brigade Commander urged locals to always provide timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
