Hon. Keftin Amuga, the 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate in Gombe State, has called on TY Danjuma to take a more direct role in the country’s political future, saying “there is no age limit in politics” and insisting that the nation still needs his intervention.

Amuga made the remarks in a birthday message on Tuesday, praising the statesman’s long-standing influence in national politics while urging him to move beyond the role of a “kingmaker.”
According to Amuga, Nigeria’s prolonged insecurity would have taken a different course had the elder statesman accepted to lead the country in the past.

“I reminded you in my 2023 birthday message that, had you agreed to lead Nigeria in 1976, the nation would not be experiencing the present persistent insecurity created by radical Islamic jihadists under various guises,” he said.
He alleged that groups operating as bandits, Fulani herdsmen, Lakurawa, and ISWAP continue to advance a mindset that Nigeria is a “personal estate inherited from Usman dan Fodio,” adding that such motivations justify the need for renewed leadership.
“Because this is the mindset of the terrorists, we therefore need your active intervention to re-subdue the oppressors and free the ethnic nationalities of Nigeria,” Amuga stated.
He argued that age should not deter the elder statesman from active political involvement, pointing to other political figures still prominent in national affairs.
“There is no age limit in politics; otherwise, Obasanjo, Buhari, Tinubu, and Atiku—who are in the same age bracket—would not be participants,” he said.
“If these octogenarians are involved in politics to pursue their agendas, you also have a more beneficial ideology for the liberation of the oppressed, of which I am a standing witness.”
Amuga criticised what he described as repeated betrayals by politicians who previously enjoyed the elder statesman’s support.
“It is not enough for you to simply assist quasi-‘patriots’ to articulate your agenda, who then turn around to betray your cause,” he said.
“Your past endorsement of candidates has not paid off. Enough is enough with being a kingmaker wherein the endorsed turn around to betray what you stand for.”
He cited the statesman’s previous roles in the emergence of former leaders.
“Your input in making Obasanjo both military Head of State and civilian President, and facilitating the election of Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, is still vivid,” he said.
Amuga also expressed concern over alleged lobbying efforts targeting the Middle Belt Forum (MBF) ahead of the 2027 general election, warning that the country is facing “the worst economic and security disaster.”
He urged the elder statesman to help reposition the MBF for national relevance.
“God has kept you alive to handle the Nigerian project directly. You may wish to begin by ensuring the emergence of an ideological and patriotic Middle Belt Forum leadership to give purposeful direction to the ethnic nationalities and the nation,” he said.
Amuga ended his message with warm birthday wishes.
“Surely, the best for you and the Nigerian nation is still ahead. Happy birthday, my leader,” he said.
Full-Text: There is no age limit in politics as you celebrate your birthday.
On behalf of the oppressed peoples of Nigeria, my humble self, and my family, I am excited, filled with joy and gratitude to God as we wish you many more happy returns of your birthdays. Surely, the best for you and the Nigerian nation is still ahead.
I want to humbly refer you to my 2023 birthday messages, in which I reminded you that, had you agreed to lead Nigeria in 1976, Nigeria would not have been experiencing the present persistent insecurity created by radical Islamic jihadists under the guise of bandits, Fulani herdsmen, Lakurawa, ISWAP, etc., who regard Nigeria as their personal estate inherited from Usman dan Fodio, and that must be subdued.
This being the mindset of the terrorists, we therefore need your active intervention to re-subdue the oppressors and free the ethnic nationalities of Nigeria.
I want to remind you that there is no age limit in politics; otherwise, Obasanjo, Buhari, Tinubu, and Atiku—with whom you are in the same age bracket—would not be participants. However, because they are driven by ideological concerns that contradict yours, they insist on always seeking your endorsement to be elected, thereby putting in check and liquidating your ideological concern for the oppressed peoples of Nigeria.
Certainly, if these octogenarians are involved in politics to pursue their agendas, you also have a better and more beneficial ideology/agenda for the liberation of the oppressed and the restoration of freedom of worship to Nigerians, of which I am a standing witness.
I believe it is not enough for you to simply assist quasi-“Patriots” to articulate your agenda, who then turn around to betray your cause. It is now time for you to either lead decisively or ANOINT the next President of Nigeria, because your past ENDORSEMENT of candidates to be Presidents of Nigeria has not paid off.
Finally, I still maintain that enough is enough with being a kingmaker wherein the endorsed turn around to betray what you stand for. Your input in making Obasanjo both Military Head of State and Civilian President, facilitating the election of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the late Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as Presidents of Nigeria, is still vivid.
Furthermore, the ethnic nationalities are watching with great concern the intense lobby on the Middle Belt Forum (MBF) for the Tinubu administration to scale the 2027 general election, in spite of the continuing slide into a political abyss and the worst economic and security disaster facing the nation.
God has kept you alive to handle the Nigerian project directly. You may wish to commence the same by ensuring the emergence of an ideological and patriotic Middle Belt Forum (MBF) leadership to give purposeful direction to the ethnic nationalities and the Nigerian nation.
Happy Birthday, My Leader
Hon. Keftin Amuga,
Gombe State Labour Party 2023
Gubernatorial Candidate
