Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Joel Ikenya, has officially announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ikenya, who also previously represented Taraba South Senatorial District, disclosed his decision in a statement released on Monday.
According to him, he has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in what he described as a move made in the interest of Taraba State.
The statement read: “Defection Notification! I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude for the love and solidarity you have shown to me throughout my political journey, which has spanned many years.”
He added that his decision followed extensive consultations and reflection.
“After careful consideration, due diligence, and wide consultations, I am pleased to announce that I have formally defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the interest of my people, Tarabans.”
Ikenya said his political rise had always been rooted in the PDP.
“You are all aware that PDP remains the party that gave me the platform to attain all the positions I have held in politics, and this is where I believe I am loved,” he declared.
