The Taraba State Youth Forum has commended the Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Dr. Bulus Maiyaki, for addressing electricity challenges across communities in the state.
In a statement issued to journalists on Friday and signed by the Forum’s Secretary, Umaru Emmanuel, the group described the intervention as timely and life-changing for citizens.
The forum also thanked Dr. Maiyaki for facilitating the provision of transformers to communities in Takum, Donga and Ussa Local Government Areas, as well as the installation of solar panels in Chinkai community.
“While transiting from Abuja to Wukari, the REA Director observed that Chinkai community was in darkness and ensured the community’s reconnection to the national grid.
“Beyond rural intervention, Maiyaki has extended similar gestures to key government institutions across the state, including the distribution of transformers and solar-powered streetlights to facilities such as the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, and the Federal University, Wukari,” the statement read.
The forum also described the recent Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters conferred on Dr. Maiyaki by the Federal University, Wukari, as recognition of his outstanding contributions to humanity and community development.
It urged other public office holders to emulate Maiyaki’s approach to service delivery in the interest of humanity, and appealed to governments at all levels to partner with progressive-minded public servants to achieve sustainable development in Taraba State.
