The Gombe State Investigation Committee on the Vandalisation of Schools has visited Pindiga in Akko Emirate to inspect identified schools affected by vandalism.

The nine-man committee, led by its Chairman, Malam Aliyu Mamman Kamara, first paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Pindiga, Alhaji Mohammed Seyoji Ahmed, at his palace. During the visit, the committee interacted with district and village heads on its assignment.
While briefing the Emir on the committee’s mandate, Malam Kamara explained that the task of the committee is, among other things, to assess affected schools and the extent of vandalisation, with a view to making appropriate recommendations to the government on the way forward.
In his response, the Emir of Pindiga, Alhaji Mohammed Seyoji Ahmed, expressed concern over the increasing level of vandalisation of school infrastructure despite the huge investments made by the government in the education sector.
The committee later inspected Garin Rijiya Primary and Junior Secondary School and Sakarumbu Junior Secondary School, where vandals had wreaked havoc, apparently due to inadequate security.
Similarly, the committee visited Akko Emirate, where it was received by the Lamido of Akko, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Atiku, who pledged the support and cooperation of the emirate to ensure the successful delivery of the committee’s mandate.
Thereafter, the committee visited Lamido Futuk Primary School, where two blocks of classrooms and an office were completely pulled down from roof to foundation under unexplained circumstances.
However, the committee has invited some officials of the Akko Local Education Authority and the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) for further interrogation.
