The Malam Aliyu Kamara–led nine-member Committee on the Investigation of the Vandalization of Primary and Secondary Schools in Gombe State, constituted by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has met with traditional rulers and inspected several schools to assess their condition.

The committee’s first port of call on Friday was the palace of the Emir of Gona, Alhaji Umar Abdulkadir Abdussalam II. During the visit, the committee chairman briefed the traditional institution and the general public on the importance of community ownership of government properties, particularly schools, in order to curb needless vandalisation.
Following the courtesy visit, the committee inspected schools in Zongomari, Wuro Dole and Ngalda villages within the Gona Emirate to assess the extent of vandalisation.
Earlier, the Emir of Gona commended Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for setting up the committee and assured that the emirate, in collaboration with village heads, is ready to work with the government to protect schools and other public properties.
In all the communities visited, the committee warned against the vandalisation of government properties and called on residents to report anyone found committing such acts for appropriate sanctions.
