The Niger State Government has announced an eight-day Executive Retreat for Commissioners-designate, Chairmen-elect and their deputies, Special Advisers, and Permanent Secretaries, aimed at strengthening governance and aligning officials with the administration’s development agenda.
The retreat is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Hauwa Isah Wali Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House, Minna, by 10:00 a.m.
Announcing the programme, the Secretary to Government of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to institutional reform and effective service delivery.
According to him, “This high-level retreat is designed to deepen governance reforms, strengthen institutional capacity, and align all incoming political and administrative office holders with the policy direction and transformative agenda of the present administration.”
Usman added that the sessions will equip participants with essential tools for public leadership.
“The retreat will expose participants to best practices in governance, public service ethics, and leadership excellence,” he stated.
He emphasised that attendance is compulsory for all designated officials, describing it as a key step in preparing them for their new roles.
“Participation is mandatory. This marks the official onboarding process that will adequately prepare them for the responsibilities ahead,” he said.
The Special Guest of Honour at the retreat is the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, while the Royal Father of the Day is the Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, who also chairs the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers.
