The Lau community of Taraba State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
The community also called on Alhaji Abdulhadi Haruna to contest the Taraba State All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship position to strengthen the party ahead of the general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the Lau community for APC, Hon. Smith Nichodemos said on Monday in Jalingo that the decision to endorse both President Tinubu and Alhaji Abdulhadi followed a critical review of their developmental records.
He noted that the community believes Abdulhadi Haruna has the capacity to unite party members and run an inclusive administration that prioritises victory for the APC above personal interests.
“Our decision to endorse Alhaji Abdulhadi Haruna for the Taraba APC chairmanship is based on his development-focused record, demonstrated during his service as a two-time commissioner in the state executive, former Lau LGA council chairman, and chairman of the governing council of the Taraba State Polytechnic.
“We believe Abdulhadi will build partnerships with stakeholders to attract investments that will grow Taraba’s economy. We are concerned about unity and leadership ideology. We believe his leadership style—anchored on transparency, accountability, and good governance—will attract more members from other political parties and ensure APC’s victory in all elections,” he stated.
Hon. Peter George, Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas, described the endorsement as a strategic step toward securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections and called on party stakeholders to support the move.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Abdulhadi Haruna Campaign, Mr. Yunisa Jibo, assured that the APC would make history in Taraba if Abdulhadi is given the opportunity to serve.
Responding, Alhaji Abdulhadi Haruna pledged to deliver on the mandate if elected APC state chairman.
He commended Governor Agbu Kefas, members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, and council chairmen for their “bold decision” to join the APC and support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
He described Governor Kefas’ defection to the APC as a progressive step, noting that Taraba State is set to witness “unprecedented development that will shape the future of its citizens and elevate the state’s economic status.”
