Youth members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, under the umbrella of Hope for Taraba 2027, on Friday staged a solidarity walk through the streets of Jalingo, calling on Senator Emmanuel Bwacha to contest the 2027 governorship election.
The youths, who later briefed journalists at the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) House, described the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas as a mistake Tarabans would live to regret.
Hon. Abdulrazak Mahmud Limam, leader of the group, and Wilson Oguche, APC Youth Secretary, said the alleged abysmal performance of Governor Kefas was rapidly turning Taraba into a decaying state.
“After a close assessment of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration, we have observed that the governor is taking Taraba State backward instead of moving it forward. This is beyond party lines; it is about the development of Taraba,” they said.
“His abysmal performance is fast pushing Taraba into decay. We appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to save us from this mess by supporting Senator Emmanuel Bwacha to emerge as Taraba State governor in 2027.
“We want Senator Bwacha to liberate the state from the current situation and rescue us from the impending danger of being ranked among the poorest regions globally,” the youths appealed.
The group insisted that Senator Bwacha’s developmental track record across the Southern Senatorial District was clear evidence that the former 2023 APC governorship candidate could deliver on the aspirations of the people and reposition Taraba on the global map of economic and human development.
“Joining the APC alone is not enough justification to support Governor Kefas for a second term. Governance assessment research has shown that the Kefas administration so far is among the worst in Nigeria’s history, and we are already feeling the negative impacts,” they claimed.
“We cannot support Kefas simply because he is now in the APC. We want development that future generations will be proud of. We want the outside world to see Taraba as a state driven by vision and progress.
“Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has demonstrated capacity in Southern Taraba, and we believe that if given the opportunity to serve as governor, Taraba will become a destination of choice for investors and development partners,” the group stated.
