A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jamilu Gwamna, on Thursday described the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise as a major innovation that will not only strengthen the party but also enhance national security.
Speaking during a sensitisation drive in Gombe State, Gwamna called on APC members to turn out in large numbers to revalidate their membership, noting that the new system captures detailed biometric information of members.
“I’m here principally because I want to encourage all members of APC to come out en masse to revalidate their membership. The e-registration is very good not only for the party but for the security of our country because it has a lot of features that captures individuals and their details,” he said.
He commended the APC leadership at both the national and state levels for introducing what he described as an effective and forward-looking initiative.
“It’s an effective innovation by the leadership of APC, we must commend them for this. I want to commend His Excellency for the opportunity given to all of us to come, encourage, support the registration and drive it to ensure it’s successful in Gombe State,” Gwamna added.
Speaking on the massive membership base of the ruling party, Ishiyaku attributed the growing confidence in APC to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.
“We owe it to the leadership of our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and secondly, that of our Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. Even a blind man can touch what he is doing. This has given us the hope and courage to continue to support him and that is why we have devoted our energy to ensure the success of this exercise,” he said.
On the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ishiyaku urged youths and women in the state to actively participate by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Youths including women should participate. This voters’ card that you see is your path to good governance, because you use it to select people that will govern you and I encourage them to come out,” he stated.
He also reminded APC members to take advantage of the exercise to revalidate their party membership.
“Likewise, our party members, they should come and revalidate their membership,” he concluded.
