The Gombe State Police Command has foiled an attempted attack by suspected armed bandits on Guda Lamido Village in Kashere, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, when a distress report alerted security agencies to the movement of armed men toward the community.
Confirming the development on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said a joint security team swiftly responded and repelled the attackers.
“Upon receipt of the report, a joint patrol team comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups, and hunters immediately mobilised to the scene,” Abdullahi said.
“The team engaged the bandits and successfully repelled the attack, forcing the criminals to flee into the surrounding forest.”
He added that the operation was carried out without casualties. “No life was lost and no injuries were sustained during the encounter. Normalcy has since been restored, and the area remains calm and peaceful,” the police spokesperson stated.
According to him, the command has intensified security measures in the area to prevent any further threat. “To ensure the continued safety of residents, rigorous patrols and surveillance operations have been intensified within Guda Lamido Village and its environs,” he said.
DSP Abdullahi also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, commended the operatives involved in the operation.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, has praised the gallantry and professionalism displayed by the officers and men during the operation and charged them to sustain the tempo in the fight against crime,” he noted.
The police command reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, urging the public to remain vigilant.
“We call on members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that can help prevent crime,” Abdullahi said.
