Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya,  has joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the maiden combined 1st, 2nd and 3rd Convocation Ceremony of Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.

The ceremony, witnessed the graduation of over 2,000 students, including 28 First Class graduates, drawn from three academic sessions.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who attended as Special Guest of Honour, described the convocation as a demonstration of the unyielding spirit of a people, a government and an institution that refused to surrender to fear.

He noted that the university’s survival and growth in the face of insurgency stands as a clear reminder that education remains the strongest weapon against extremism and despair.

“These graduates are the torchbearers of a brighter tomorrow and living proof that knowledge will always triumph over fear.Their success represents victory of courage over intimidation and hope over hardship.”

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said as a sister state in the North-East, Gombe shares in the joy and pride of Borno State, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the university management, academic staff and students to ensure that teaching and learning never stopped, even during the most challenging periods.

He commended the Borno State Government for its support to the education sector and urged the graduating students to use their knowledge, skills and character to contribute meaningfully to national development and regional stability.

In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima described the convocation as a symbol of hope and national renewal, noting that the progress recorded by Kashim Ibrahim University reflects the resilience of the North-East and the collective resolve to rebuild through education.

He urged the graduates to see themselves as ambassadors of peace, innovation and service to humanity.

Earlier, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the education sector in Borno State, stressing that universities remain critical to post-conflict recovery, human capital development and long-term peace.

He thanked all partners and stakeholders who stood by the state and the institution through difficult times.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya was accompanied to the event by the Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, among other officials.
