Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Friday assured that citizens of the state would fully mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and ensure victory for all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

Kefas also insisted that his relationship with Gen. T.Y. Danjuma remains intact, dismissing widespread speculation that he was no longer in the elder statesman’s good books.
The governor spoke during a solidarity visit by traditional rulers from Wukari, his hometown, at the T.Y. Danjuma House in Jalingo.

He pledged to ensure that Taraba people fully benefit from governance at both the state and federal levels and urged residents to register en masse with the APC, describing party membership as key to attracting federal presence and opportunities to the state.

“We must mobilise for the APC. The benefits of alignment with the centre are clear, and Taraba will continue to benefit,” he said.
Governor Kefas, who described his relationship with the former Minister of Defence as “sound, firm and solid,” disclosed that some individuals had been criticising him before the elder statesman.

“I have heard people saying my relationship with Gen. T.Y. Danjuma has cracks. I want to inform Tarabans and Nigerians that my relationship with the elder statesman is intact, sound and solid.

“Some people are going to him to criticise me to ensure that he withdraws his support for my re-election, but thank God Gen. Danjuma knows me more than they do.
“As a soldier, he understands capacity, discipline and leadership. He is not disturbed by those who go to tell lies against me,” Kefas said.

PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that rumours about the relationship between Governor Kefas and the elder statesman have fuelled uncertainty over the political direction of the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Meanwhile, the governor, who commended Gen. Danjuma for identifying and supporting him for leadership, insisted that the retired general remains fully aware of his leadership capacity and vision for the state.

The governor also thanked the traditional leaders for the visit and expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve.
“I thank God for the grace to lead Taraba State and for opening my mind to see Taraba beyond Wukari,” Kefas said. “Governance must be inclusive. Taraba is home to over 80 ethnic groups, and every one of them deserves good governance.”

Kefas also spoke on security and resettlement, assuring that displaced persons across the state would return to their communities.
“All those who left their homes will return,” he said. “A pilot resettlement project has already begun and will be replicated in all affected communities across Southern Taraba and the entire state.”

Earlier, the Aku Uka of Wukari, HRM Dr. Mannu Ada Ali, who led the delegation, said the visit was to express the people’s appreciation for the governor’s developmental efforts in Wukari and across the state.

He listed several projects executed or ongoing under the Kefas administration, including internal roads in Wukari, the flyover bridge at Takum Junction, the military Forward Operating Base at Ikyaior along the Taraba/Benue border, and the Wukari–Kente–Riti road.
According to the monarch, the projects would have lasting economic and social impact on the people of Taraba State.
“The people of Wukari are grateful for these interventions,” the Aku Uka said. “They reflect good governance and a commitment to development.”
The traditional rulers expressed continued support for the governor and commended his leadership style and statewide developmental approach.
