The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday declared a 30-day fasting and prayer programme for members of the church worldwide.
Adeboye made the declaration during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service, monitored by our correspondent, urging members to prepare spiritually for the days ahead.
According to the revered cleric, the fasting exercise begins immediately, with an optional 14-day dry fast for those who are spiritually able and willing to undertake it.
“We must always be prepared,” Adeboye said. “This year, we have 30 days of fasting. God is putting 100 days in credit for next year. I don’t know the number of days yet, but fasting begins today. Fourteen days are for those who want to go dry.”
Delivering his sermon titled “Divine Insurance Policy,” drawn from Psalm 91:1, Adeboye urged members to rely totally on God for protection and preservation, describing divine coverage as superior to any human insurance scheme.
He explained that while conventional insurance policies often come with hidden clauses and limitations, God’s protection is absolute, dependable, and everlasting.
“Unlike comprehensive insurance with unmentioned conditions, God’s insurance is sure,” he noted. “It is everlasting and never fails.”
Adeboye further described Jesus Christ as the ultimate insurer, stressing that believers who dwell in God’s presence are fully covered in every aspect of life.
“Jesus is number one insurer,” he said. “There is no insurance for sleep, but my Daddy has it covered.”
The declaration of the fasting programme has sparked renewed spiritual commitment among RCCG members, who traditionally observe annual fasting periods at the beginning of the year as part of the church’s spiritual calendar.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God, founded in 1952, has millions of members across Nigeria and in over 190 countries worldwide.
