Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko has officially assumed command as the 18th Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, following a formal handover ceremony held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Brigade Headquarters in Ohafia.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Assistant Director of Army Public 14 Brigade, Captain Mazinho Attah.
He took over from Brigadier General Hassan Muhammad Bello in a colourful ceremony marked by military tradition, symbolism, and the formal transfer of command authority.
In his farewell address, the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General Bello, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for the opportunity to serve and praised officers and soldiers of the Brigade for their commitment and professionalism throughout his tenure.
“I am deeply grateful to the Chief of Army Staff for the privilege to serve, and I sincerely commend the officers and soldiers of 14 Brigade for their unwavering loyalty, dedication, and teamwork, which were instrumental to the successes recorded during my command,” Bello said.
He described the Brigade as a close-knit family and urged personnel to extend the same level of cooperation and support to his successor.
“I urge you all to give Brigadier General Dikko the same commitment and cooperation you accorded me, in order to sustain the family spirit and operational effectiveness of the Brigade,” he added.
In his maiden address, the new Commander, Brigadier General Dikko, pledged to uphold the core values of professionalism, discipline, and teamwork within the Brigade, while aligning its operations with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
“There is no organisation that describes the philosophy of life like the Nigerian Army,” Dikko said, stressing that discipline and professionalism remain critical to military effectiveness.
He further emphasised the importance of timeliness, noting that, “Timeliness is a key virtue that positively projects the unit, the Nigerian Army, and the nation at large.”
Brigadier General Dikko assured officers and soldiers of his commitment to sustaining unit cohesion and enhancing operational readiness within the command.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of souvenirs by the incoming Commander to the outgoing Commander, symbolising appreciation for Bello’s successful tour of duty.
The event concluded with a farewell address to troops, a group photograph at the Brigade Headquarters, and the ceremonial lowering and hoisting of the Brigade flag, signifying the formal transfer of command.
The seamless transition reaffirmed the Brigade’s enduring tradition of discipline, continuity, and professionalism, underscoring its critical role in strengthening the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness.
