The incident, which occurred at the Bola-Jari axis of the market, affected a warehouse belonging to Alhaji Abdullahi Laja. The FFS team from the ATM Fire Operations Base, led by ASF Mohammed Gambo, responded swiftly to the emergency, preventing the inferno from spreading to adjoining structures.

Preliminary post-incident assessment revealed that properties valued at about ₦50 million were damaged, while no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded.
The firefighting operation was carried out in collaboration with the Gombe State Fire Service and the Gombe State University Fire Service. Their combined efforts ensured the fire was brought under control in good time.
The State Controller of the FFS, DCF S.M. Mohammed, was present at the scene to assess the situation and coordinate response efforts.
Security and crowd control were provided by the Nigeria Police Force, Pantami Division, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, whose support enabled firefighters to carry out their duties effectively.
Meanwhile, the Federal Fire Service has urged members of the public to install appropriate fire detection and firefighting equipment in homes, shops and business premises, and to strictly adhere to fire prevention measures at all times.
Residents were also encouraged to contact emergency services promptly in the event of any fire outbreak.
