The management of Hajj Gazette News and Current Affairs Magazine has congratulated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf on his nomination as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

In a statement signed by its Editor-in-Chief/CEO, Malam Auwal Ahmad Umar, the publication described the nomination as “a welcome development at a critical time in Nigeria’s Hajj administration.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Wednesday announced the nomination of Amb. Yusuf, reaffirming what the Presidency described as its commitment to strengthening institutional leadership within the Hajj management framework.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President has transmitted the nomination to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for confirmation in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2026.

Reacting to the development, Hajj Gazette stated, “Ambassador Yusuf’s nomination comes at a critical juncture for the Commission, especially as preparations for the forthcoming Hajj operations require strategic coordination, transparency, and administrative efficiency.”
The magazine further expressed confidence in the nominee’s capacity to reposition the Commission.
“His diplomatic background and vast public service experience place him in a strong position to consolidate ongoing reforms and enhance service delivery to Nigerian pilgrims,” the statement added.
It also noted that, upon confirmation, Amb. Yusuf is expected to “strengthen stakeholder collaboration, uphold regulatory standards, and drive operational excellence within NAHCON.”
The management wished him success in what it described as “an important national assignment.”
