No fewer than 400 bishops from across the world are expected to converge on Abuja for the GAFCON G26 Mini Conference scheduled to hold from March 2 to 6, 2026.

The conference, hosted by the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, Henry Ndukuba, and his wife, Angela, will receive delegates arriving from February 28, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement released on the official platforms of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, obtained in Gombe on Friday.

According to the statement, the gathering is part of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) cycle of mini-conferences held between its five-yearly global assemblies.

The Primate warmly welcomed participants from different parts of the world, describing the event as a time for collective worship, study of God’s Word, prayer, and reflection on the state of the global Anglican Communion.

He expressed gratitude to the global leadership of GAFCON, including its chairman, the Most Rev. Dr. Laurent Mbanda; the Deputy Chair, Archbishop Miguel Uchoa of Brazil; the General Secretary, the Right Rev. Paul Donison; as well as members of the Primates Council, trustees, and other leaders of the movement.

The statement noted that the G26 conference comes at a significant moment following the publication of the October 16, 2025, Matthias Day Statement by the GAFCON Primates Council, which has added renewed focus and depth to the meeting.

The theme of the conference, “Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve,” drawn from Joshua 24:15, calls participants to renewed commitment, faithfulness, and obedience to God.

The Primate emphasized that the gathering represents a “valley of decision” for the Church at a time of moral, doctrinal, and spiritual challenges.

He warned that the greatest threat to the Church is not external persecution but internal compromise of biblical truth and authority, urging Church leaders to resist teachings and practices that undermine the gospel.

Reaffirming the stance of the Nigerian Anglican Church, the Primate declared that the Church of Nigeria remains committed to serving God alone, upholding the authority of Scripture, preserving the historic Christian faith, and engaging faithfully in God’s mission.

Delegates were formally welcomed to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and seat of government, for what is expected to be a significant global Christian gathering.

GAFCON is a global Anglican movement committed to guarding the gospel, raising orthodox leaders, and generating missional resources for the glory of God.

Its vision is to place the Bible at the heart of the Anglican Communion.

The movement is founded on the Jerusalem Statement and Declaration of 2008 and is led by the Primates Council, which represents the majority of Anglicans worldwide.
