The Gombe State Police Command has commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Day with a sanitation exercise and free medical outreach in Gombe.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Umar Ahmed Chuso, led members of the Command’s management team to kick off the event at the Gombe Emir’s Palace.
Speaking during the exercise, Chuso said the initiative was aimed at strengthening community engagement while promoting a clean and healthy environment.
“This exercise reflects our commitment to not only ensuring security but also contributing to the wellbeing of the communities we serve. We believe that a cleaner environment supports a healthier and safer society,” he said.
The sanitation exercise attracted wide participation from police officers, community members, and key stakeholders, including the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Gombe Old Market Association, and the Gombe State Environmental Protection Agency.
Chuso commended the stakeholders for their support, noting that collaborative efforts remain critical to effective policing.
“The turnout and support from various groups today demonstrate the power of partnership in achieving sustainable peace and development. We will continue to strengthen these relationships for the benefit of all,” he added.
As part of the programme, the Command also conducted a medical outreach that provided free consultations, tests, and medications to residents.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
The Police Commissioner urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies and participate actively in community-based initiatives.
“We call on the public to continue working with the police and other security agencies. Together, we can build a safer and healthier society,” he said.
The activities form part of a broader lineup of events scheduled to commemorate National Police Day 2026 across the country.
