Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called for sustained unity among stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-East, following the party’s zonal congress held in Gombe State.
Fintiri, who recently defected to the APC, spoke on behalf of governors in the region, expressing appreciation for the peaceful and united conduct of the congress.

“On behalf of the North-East governors, we extend our gratitude for the unity demonstrated at this great meeting which God has made possible. It is our prayer that this unity will be sustained in our various states,” he said.
He urged party members to mobilise support for the APC ahead of future elections, stressing the need for collective effort.
“We must continue to campaign for ourselves and our leaders to ensure victory for the party from bottom to top. As governors and leaders, we will support the process to ensure that we emerge victorious,” he added.
The governor emphasised patience and cooperation among party faithful, noting that leadership positions were not a measure of superiority.
“Everyone knows that politics requires patience. Those appointed as leaders are not necessarily better than others; it is our collective responsibility to support them to succeed in the positions God has given them,” he stated.
Fintiri described the congress as unprecedented in the region and urged members to remain committed to party leadership.
“There has never been a meeting like this in the North-East among APC members. Since God has united us, we must follow the leadership and remain patient,” he said.
He further stressed that electoral victory remains the ultimate goal of political engagement.
“The essence of politics is to win elections. If we do not win, then it has no meaning. We must remain focused and united to achieve success at the polls,” he said.
Fintiri concluded by appreciating party members for accepting the consensus arrangement and supporting the emergence of leaders.
“On behalf of the governors of the North-East, I thank you for the patience you have shown in accepting the leaders chosen for the party,” he added.
