A group of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has dissociated itself from the alleged state and local government congresses conducted by Victor Fallack.
In a press statement issued to journalists on Sunday, the members explained that Dr. Fallack allegedly declared himself the new state chairman of the party during the purported PDP congress held on Saturday and listed some of them as members of the State Working Committee without their consent.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP members who signed the disclaimer include: Hon. Terna Anzamber, Hikon Hosea, Hamisu Maigari Gassol, Zubulun Dauda Hamman, Yakubu Balutu, Hauwa Adam Imam, Ali Musa, and Hon. Polycarp Apura.
The group stated that the National Secretariat of the party had earlier constituted a Caretaker Committee for Taraba State on February 24, 2026, headed by Dr. Victor Fallack, to conduct ward, local government, and state congresses, a mandate which they said was successfully executed.
However, they alleged that a few hours after the congresses were conducted, Dr. Fallack released another list of the party’s state executives in which he named himself as the newly elected chairman and included some of them as members.
“After the conduct of the congresses, Dr. Victor Fallack came out with another list of the party’s state executives, making himself the chairman.
“In the genuine congress conducted through consensus, zoning considerations and religious balance were taken into account, and the chairmanship position was zoned to a Muslim candidate in the interest of peace and progress of the party,” the group explained.
The group described Fallack’s action as condemnable, noting that it did not reflect the spirit of a loyal party member.
“The genuine congress of the Peoples Democratic Party conducted on Saturday in Taraba State produced Alhaji Abba Saleh as chairman. We call on the National Secretariat of the party to call Dr. Fallack to order.
“Dr. Fallack’s action is capable of causing disunity in the party, which has been built over the years in Taraba. Our support remains with Alhaji Abba Saleh, who was genuinely elected during the Saturday PDP congress,” the statement added.
