Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday declared that the African Democratic Congress holds no political relevance in Kano State, describing the party as “dead on arrival” amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor’s position was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, following his return from Abuja where he participated in a series of political engagements.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters in Kano, Yusuf said the ADC was weakened by internal crises and lacked the cohesion required to make any meaningful political impact in the state.

According to him, the party’s internal wrangling has significantly undermined its structure, making it incapable of competing with established political platforms in Kano’s dynamic political environment.

“The ADC is dead on arrival in Kano. The party is already battling internal crises and lacks the grassroots support needed to survive in our political space,” the governor was quoted as saying.

He further argued that beyond internal challenges, the party does not enjoy the level of public trust and acceptance required to mount a serious political contest in the state.

The governor maintained that Kano remains firmly under the control of the ruling political structure, backed by what he described as overwhelming support from the electorate.

He, therefore, called on his supporters to remain united and focused, stressing the need to consolidate the gains recorded under his administration.

Yusuf also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to governance and development, noting that delivering on campaign promises remains a top priority.

“We will rally solid support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and I am very optimistic that the APC will, by the grace of God, win all elective positions in 2027,” he said.

He added that the partnership between the state and the Federal Government was already yielding positive results, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and social intervention programmes.

“Our partnership with the Federal Government is already yielding positive results through infrastructural development and social safety initiatives. We will deliver a landslide victory for the APC,” the governor stated.

The remarks come amid increasing political activity in Kano State, with the ADC attracting notable defections and positioning itself as an emerging opposition platform ahead of the next election cycle.
