Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Monday inaugurated a modern health centre and a multi-purpose community town hall built by Federal Government in Kiwulang, Tal District of Billiri Local Government Area.

Represented by the Secretary to Government of Gombe, Ibrahim Njodi, the governor commissioned the projects executed through the efforts of the Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, Samson Duna.

This was contained in a statement signed by Joshua Danmalam, Information Officer SGS office.
Speaking at the event, Yahaya praised Duna for his contribution to community development.
“The construction of this health centre in Kiwulang and the 1,000-capacity town hall in Tal District is a clear testament to Professor Duna’s determination to give back to the community that nurtured him,” he said.
“His unwavering commitment to the development of Tal community, Gombe State, and Nigeria at large is highly commendable.”
The governor disclosed that the state government would complement the projects to enhance service delivery.
“Government has directed the Commissioners for Health and Water Resources to immediately assess the facility and determine areas where support is required, particularly in service delivery and water supply to underserved communities in Tal District,” he added.
Yahaya also appreciated members of the National Assembly from the state for their collaboration.
“We are grateful to our representatives at the National Assembly for working closely with the state government towards projects such as the Federal Medical Centre, Kumo, and the Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri,” he said.
In his remarks, the NBRRI Director-General, Duna, said the projects were outcomes of research-driven interventions.
“These projects are products of research undertaken by the institute under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to enhance reliability in structural designs,” he explained.
“While the health centre will improve healthcare delivery, the town hall is meant to provide a conducive space for community meetings and social activities.”
Duna expressed appreciation to the governor and the people of the area.
“I am grateful to Governor Inuwa Yahaya, the member representing Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency, and the people of Tal District for their continued support to the institute,” he said.
Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency, Ali Isa, reaffirmed his commitment to his constituents.
“I remain committed to the welfare and wellbeing of my constituents and will continue to support initiatives that bring development closer to our people,” he stated.
“Professor Duna has demonstrated sterling leadership at NBRRI and a strong commitment to the development of Tal community and Billiri Local Government Area.”
Earlier, the Chairperson of Billiri Local Government Area, Egla Idris, called for sustained support for government initiatives.
“I urge our people to continue supporting government policies and individuals like Professor Duna whose efforts are clearly impacting lives and communities,” she said.
