Residents of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State have commended the council chairman, Hon. Benjamin Bako, for his infrastructural efforts in the area.
The residents said the development is rapidly transforming the local economy and enhancing human capacity building.
During an inspection of the ultra-modern market project, a resident, Mr John Adi, said the chairman’s efforts were already creating a positive impact on citizens across the local government.
Meanwhile, the council chairman, Hon. Benjamin Bako, said the market will feature organised sections for grains, boutiques, and pharmaceuticals, alongside key facilities such as a police post, modern toilet conveniences, and other support infrastructure to enhance trading activities.
The chairman also disclosed that over 150 youths have been engaged in the construction process, providing much-needed employment and boosting the local economy. He urged contractors to maintain standards and ensure the timely delivery of the project.
Bako commended the World Bank-assisted Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) programme for the Ndibam/Fadama gully erosion project.
He described the 3-kilometre intervention by the Taraba State Government, through the World Bank-supported ACReSAL programme, as a life-changing development for residents, noting that it is aimed at curbing land degradation, protecting infrastructure, and improving safety and accessibility.
He reaffirmed Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration’s commitment to sustainable development, noting that the projects will stimulate the state’s economy and improve livelihoods.
