Stakeholders from Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area have intensified calls for greater political representation and economic opportunities, urging unity and decisive action to secure a senatorial seat and improve livelihoods in the constituency.

The resolution formed part of deliberations at the 7th “Call to Action” General Meeting held on Monday at Deba Town Hall, where community leaders, government officials, youth and women groups converged to chart a common path forward.
Convener of the movement, Amb. Benjamin Abner Mamman said the recent engagement with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya marked a turning point for the community’s aspirations.
“Unity is not optional; it is mandatory if we must make progress. Opportunities are there, but we must rise and take them with boldness,” he said.
“Our goal is clear — to secure better political representation and create economic opportunities for our youth.”
Chairman of the meeting, Alhaji Garba Bimason Gwani, emphasized the need to translate discussions into measurable outcomes, noting that the community must speak with one voice to achieve its objectives.
The Gombe State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, assured participants of his full support, urging immediate and coordinated action.
“This movement has my full backing. The time to act is now, and we must move together to achieve our collective goals,” Dahiru stated.
Also speaking, a representative of the Commissioner for Commerce, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu, stressed the importance of sustaining the momentum generated from recent engagements with the state government.
A retired police officer, DSP Ali Abare, attributed the area’s political challenges to internal disunity despite its advantages.
“We must fix our politics from home. Small financial inducements today cannot replace the future we are risking,” he warned.
In his remarks, Alhaji Mohammed Hassan, a bank manager, revealed that the state government had created an opportunity for the area to produce a senator, urging stakeholders to rally behind a credible candidate.
“Akko LGA is ready to support us if we present a strong candidate. That candidate must prioritize projects like an industrial park to drive development,” he said.
Other contributors called for accountability and inclusiveness in the process. A councillor representing Jagali North urged the community to thoroughly scrutinize aspirants and resist external influences capable of causing division.
Hajiya Maryam Samanja Deba lamented the lack of equitable power rotation, calling for unity across all groups.
“We must put an end to division and stand firmly behind a candidate from Yamaltu Deba,” she said.
Women and youth representatives also voiced dissatisfaction with the current political situation. A female stakeholder criticized the prolonged tenure of the incumbent senator, demanding more responsive leadership.
Youth leaders, on their part, declared a shift in mindset against vote-buying.
“We are tired of selling our future for ₦10,000 or ₦20,000. We are no longer afraid — we are fighting for our generation,” a youth representative said.
To consolidate the resolutions, the meeting agreed to establish an electoral college to screen aspirants, engage all 11 wards and traditional institutions for consensus-building, and develop an accountability framework focusing on key projects such as irrigation through local dams and the establishment of an industrial park.
A committee was also set up to address internal disputes threatening unity within the area.
The meeting ended with a courtesy visit to the Emir of Deba and a renewed call on participants to serve as ambassadors of the “Call to Action” initiative across the constituency.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that with unity and strategic coordination, Yamaltu Deba can reposition itself for stronger political influence and sustainable development.

This is a real call to action.
