The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed 686 operatives across Yobe to protect mosques, national assets and recreation centres during the Eid-el Kabir celebrations.
According to a statement issued to newsmen by the corp’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Bala Garba, the deployment is aimed at preventing disruptions and maintaining order across Damaturu and all 17 local government areas of the state.
He said the State Commandant of Yobe State DCC Bala Habule Disa, has directed the immediate deployment of personnel to monitor all recreation centres, all identified black spots, all Eid grounds and critical national assets.
Garba noted that the move is intended to stem the tide of criminal activities and mischievous makers which might jeopardise the forthcoming Eid-El – Kabir Sallah Celebration in Yobe State.
He stated that the personnel who would operate on the Sallah day were drafted from the Anti Vandal Unit, Counter Terrorism Unit, Female Strike Force Unit, CBRNE Unit, Agro Rangers Unit, Special Forces Unit, Disaster and Crisis Management Department among others.
The PRO, however, said the commandant has warned the deployed operatives at a briefing to avoid accidental discharge during their operations and remain highly professional, humane and discipline, pointing out that the corps does not condone mistakes.
”The acting State Commandant implores all and sundry to please cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movement and be vigilant because security is every body’s responsibility.
”While thanking the law abiding Yobeans for collectively upholding the relative peace, he further wishes All Muslim faithful a pleasant Eid-El- Kabir Sallah Celebration in advance,” the statement reads.
