A governorship aspirant in Taraba State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has expressed displeasure over what he described as the desecration of the person of former governor, Rev. Jolly Nyame, by some individuals in the state.

Bwacha spoke to journalists shortly after receiving his governorship nomination form, purchased by PDP youths, where he condemned the development and warned of its moral implications.

“Those blacklisting Nyame will not be forgiven by God. He is a standing father who deserves to be respected by all Tarabans,” he said.

The PDP aspirant also lamented the recent ruling of the Federal High Court, Jalingo, barring Rev. Nyame from contesting elections despite his presidential pardon.

He described the action as an act of disrespect to the elder statesman and blamed those behind the suit.

“Disrespecting Nyame is equivalent to disrespecting the entire Taraba State. His legacies as governor were not selfish and have continued to impact generations,” Bwacha added.

Meanwhile, the 2023 APC governorship candidate assured that he would restore governance and rebuild public trust if elected in 2027.

“My desire is to restore governance and build trust, free from corruption. We will ensure transparency and promote dividends of democracy.

“We will ensure that funds accruing to the state are properly utilised for development. I also intend to reintroduce the era of infrastructural development and establish skills training centres to empower our youths to become employers of labour.

“We will invest in agriculture by introducing modern farming techniques to boost productivity and stimulate interest among farmers. Our goal is to transform the education and health sectors to meet global standards.

“We will equip hospitals with modern facilities and ensure continuous training for health workers. Road construction will also be a major priority, as we plan to link rural communities to towns and markets for easy movement of farm produce. These, we believe, will enhance connectivity and boost the state’s revenue,” he said.

Bwacha also dismissed claims of factionalisation within the PDP, citing the Supreme Court judgment as final.

He said his ambition is to reunite the party and restore Taraba State’s lost glory for the benefit of its people.
