Nigeria’s entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, has died after a prolonged battle with cancer.
The sad development was reportedly announced on Tuesday evening by talent manager and filmmaker, Sam Olatunji, who confirmed the actor’s passing.

A source familiar with the development also confirmed the incident disclosing that the actor died in Lagos after battling cancer for an extended period.
Ekubo, widely celebrated for his charm, versatility and comic delivery in movies, had remained away from the public space and social media for several months, a development that had sparked concerns among fans and colleagues within the movie industry.
Known for starring in several blockbuster Nollywood productions, the actor built a strong reputation as one of the industry’s most admired screen personalities, earning a large fan base both in Nigeria and abroad.
Since news of his reported death surfaced, tributes and condolence messages have continued to pour in from fans, actors and other stakeholders in the entertainment sector, many describing his death as a painful loss to Nollywood.
