Former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to direct the party’s governorship primary election committee in Taraba State to review the outcome of the exercise in the interest of democracy.

The former minister alleged that Thursday’s APC governorship primary election in the state fell short of the democratic ideals the party claims to uphold.
In a statement signed by his Senior Media Aide, Dr. Sam Idiagbonya, ANIPR, the former minister also appealed to President Tinubu to save internal democracy in the Taraba State chapter of the party.
“The APC governorship election in Taraba State fell short of the democratic ideals the party claims to uphold,” Jaji said.
According to him, “Politics may be about power, but even power must respect due process.
“Today, many loyal APC members in Taraba feel betrayed, humiliated and politically orphaned.
“What we witnessed during the governorship primary election was an overwhelming political force overpowering internal democracy.
“Allegations of irregularities, exclusion and lack of transparency, if ignored, risk damaging the integrity and democratic image of the party.
“This is why we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the national leadership of the APC and the party chairman to urgently review the conduct of the Taraba State governorship primaries.
“The APC must rise to its purpose, defend its honour and remain a model of democratic process,” he appealed.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the APC primary election committee on Friday announced incumbent Governor Agbu Kefas as the winner of the party’s governorship ticket with 166,357 votes, while former Minister of Transportation, Jaji Sambo, scored 4,110 votes to place second.
