The Jigawa State APC has suspended Hon. Ibrahim Kamfani Auyo, federal lawmaker for Auyo/Hadejia/Kafin Hausa, and six other party officials.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Bashir Kundu, and made available to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Monday.
It was gathered that the crisis believed to be linked to events of recent days during the primary elections as the trouble began after a viral video clip on social media showed the lawmaker’s mass welcome in his hometown constituency.
PUNCH Online recalled that Kamfani Auyo lost the APC ticket during the recent primary election ahead of the 2027 general election. Days later, he was received by a huge crowd of supporters in Auyo.
However, in a video clip going viral on social media and seen by our correspondent, the lawmaker’s supporters were heard chanting varied slogans, opposing the party leadership and promising retaliation against the party during the forthcoming general election.
According to Hon. Kundu, the suspension of the lawmaker took effect immediately on 31st May 2026. He said the decision followed allegations of gross misconduct and violations of party rules.
“The party took this step based on allegations of betrayal of the party, causing internal conflicts, and dividing members,” Hon. Kundu stated in the release.
The Publicity Secretary listed other suspended officials to include the State Deputy Women Leader, Aisha Adamu Auyo alias Kande, and Auyo Ward Women Leader, Yargabi Babannan Auyo.
Hon. Kundu added that Auyo Ward Chairman, Musa Idris Zabarau, Deputy APC Chairman of Auyo LGA, Ibrahim Ayama, LGA Financial Secretary, Saje Hadiyau, and Deputy Ward Chairman, Sani Abdullahi Hadiyau, were also affected.
He said the action was taken under the leadership of the duly elected Jigawa APC Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ahmad Garba MK. “The suspension is with immediate effect,” Hon. Kundu quoted.
The party spokesman stressed that the move was part of APC’s effort to enforce discipline and protect unity in Jigawa.
“This action is part of our commitment to upholding party rules and safeguarding the unity of the party in the state,” Hon. Kundu stated.
Efforts by our correspondent to reach Hon. Kamfani Auyo for his reaction proved abortive as calls put to his telephone number went unanswered as of press time.
