The BREACH Initiative for Leadership Development, in partnership with the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency and other stakeholders, on Saturday 11th July, 2026 organized a free medical outreach for over 500 households in Malam Inna, Kagarawal, Sabon Fegi and parts of Unguwa Uku communities at the Kagarawal Palace.

The outreach targeted treatment of common illnesses in the communities, excluding surgery and bone-related cases. More than 48 medical and health personnel, including doctors and experienced nurses, were mobilized for the exercise.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Hospital Management Board,*Dr. Bello Abdulkadir*, and the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency, Pharmacist Abubakar Muhammad Hassan, commended the organizers for the initiative.
They described the outreach as part of efforts to “bring the hospital to the community” in line with global best practices on free access to healthcare for all. The two officials pledged continued partnership with BREACH Initiative and urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the drugs given and to visit hospitals for further check-ups after the outreach.
Also speaking, the Project Coordinator of the Nigeria for Women Project, *Hon. Hauwa Adamu Saraki*, lauded the organizers. She noted that women must be empowered educationally, economically, and health-wise. “BREACH Initiative and partners are handling the health aspect, and very soon we will be coming with an empowerment initiative under the mandate of His Excellency, the Governor of Gombe State,” she said.
In her address, *Dr. Leah Illiya Jalo* emphasized the importance of hygiene and sanitation in households and the wider community as key to healthy living and a better society.
Earlier, the Convener of the outreach and Team Lead of BREACH Initiative for Leadership Development, *Comrade Abdulazeez Sani Labaran*, expressed gratitude to partners, beneficiaries, community leaders, and traditional rulers for the trust reposed in the organization.
He said the outreach is part of BREACH Initiative’s pillar of giving back to the community. “This idea would not have been possible without reliable partners like ours,” Labaran stated. He also thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for providing an enabling environment and for the appointment of capable leaders, including Pharm Habu Santana and Dr. Bello Abdulkadir led the affairs of Hospital Management Board and Gombe State Drugs and Medical consumables Management Agency respectively
Comrade Labaran further appreciated partners including the SLT and Pharmacy Departments of Gombe State University, Nazeef Health Centre, Santana Care Foundation, Swift-Lane, volunteers, and other stakeholders who participated in the historic event.
In his remarks, the District Head of Malam Inna, Kagarawal, Sabon Fegi and parts of Unguwa Uku, *Alhaji Maina Kwairanja*, described the outreach as one of the best things to happen to the community. “Health is wealth,” he said.
He urged residents to maintain decorum during the exercise and expressed satisfaction with the organized process of screening, consultation, laboratory tests, and dispensing of medication. He called on his people to remain calm and follow due process.
The outreach provided free consultation, laboratory tests, and medications to beneficiaries from the four host communities.
