Residents of Inkil community in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, have been relieved of years of water scarcity following the commissioning of a multi-million naira water supply scheme by the Wunti Alkhair Foundation, a charity organisation founded by philanthropist in the state, Dr. Bala Wunti.

The water project was commissioned by a representative of the foundation, Barrister Umar Magaji on behalf of the chairman.
Magaji said the scheme comprises 12 strategically located water points saying it demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of underserved communities through sustainable development initiatives.

He noted that the foundation has executed several water projects in various communities in Bauchi State to help them have access to potable water.
Head of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Foundation, Abubakar Muhammad Ƴanmaza, said the project was in response to persistent complaints over inadequate access to clean water by the community.
He added that similar interventions had earlier been completed in Turum and Tafawa Balewa communities.
While Comrade Mukhtar Jarmajo, Chief Executive Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation, described access to potable water as essential for healthy living.
He expressed optimism that the project would improve public health and enhance residents’ quality of life.
The Project Coordinator, Surajo Caps, described the initiative as one of the Foundation’s largest community water interventions in Bauchi State.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Ladan Garba, Marafan Inkil, thanked Dr. Bala Wunti for answering the community’s appeal.
He noted that women and children previously travelled long distances daily in search of safe drinking water before the intervention.
He emphasised that every charitable act promotes societal progress and called on residents to safeguard the newly commissioned facilities.
Elder statesman Alhaji Mai Jama’a Wunti, urged wealthy Nigerians and other public-spirited individuals to invest in community development through philanthropy.
Traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups, as well as supporters, were present at the commissioning and commended Dr. Bala Wunti for the impactful project.
