The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Benjamin Adereti, has inaugurated a 360-member canvassing team to deepen the party’s grassroots mobilisation in Odo Otin Local Government Area.

The initiative, sponsored by APC stalwart Bello Basheer, comprises 20 canvassers and four coordinators drawn from each of the 15 wards in the local government.
Speaking at the inauguration in Inisa, Adereti, represented by Sola Soladoye, described the canvassing team as a strategic platform to strengthen the party’s campaign structure and expand voter outreach ahead of the governorship poll.
He urged members of the team to discharge their responsibilities with discipline, dedication and respect for the electorate, stressing that the success of any election depends largely on effective grassroots mobilisation.
Adereti expressed confidence that the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would deliver an inclusive and people-oriented administration if elected, assuring residents that the party remained committed to addressing the developmental needs of the state.
He commended Basheer for initiating the mobilisation effort, saying it would reinforce the party’s engagement with voters across the 15 wards of Odo Otin.
“The inauguration of the BABS Canvassers demonstrates our determination to ensure that every eligible voter, especially first-time voters and those yet to make up their minds, is effectively reached before the election. Elections are won through grassroots participation, and I have no doubt this team will make a meaningful impact across Odo Otin Local Government Area,” he said.
Earlier, Basheer said the BABS Canvassers initiative was designed to complement the APC campaign by strengthening voter engagement at the grassroots and expanding the party’s reach to undecided voters ahead of the election.
He urged party leaders, members and supporters to remain united and committed to the APC’s victory, noting that collective efforts would be critical to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
The August 15 governorship election will see incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking another term in office, while APC flag bearer Bola Oyebamiji, African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate and former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr Najeem Salaam, alongside candidates of 11 other political parties, will also be on the ballot.
