The Tor-Damisa community of Donga local government area in Taraba State on Sunday alleged that, credible sources have informed them that suspected fulani militias were regrouping to attack the community.
Mr. Joel Iorember, the Chairman, Ugondo Mdema Development Association (UMDA) told journalists in Jalingo that the matter has been reported to the police in the local government, while the community is under heavy tension.
According to Iorember, residents have started fleeing for safety to other destinations due to the persistence threat.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that, residents of Tor-Damisa had recently faced serial of attacks on their farms by the Fulani herdsmen killing many lives.
PERISCOPE also reports that the same Fulani attacks on Tor-Damisa, had claimed the lives of three police officers and a Vigilante chairman in February 2026, in an attempt to prevent the attackers from their mission.
The 6 Bridage of the Nigerian army Jalingo, had recently informed that troops stationed in Abako at the Taraba/Benue border, while working on credible intelligence, bursted a Fulani militia camp in Tsav-Nomchongo village in Abako, both of Tor-Damisa community, recovering large cache of arms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, Mr. Iorember while calling on relevant government authorities to act fast and rescue the situation, he lamented the continues attack on the returning IDPs and destruction of farm crops by herdsmen in the area.
“We wish to inform government and the security agencies at all levels that there is a threat by Fulani militia to launch a heavy attack on our community, (Tor-Damisa).
“Credible intelligence at our disposal indicates that the Fulani militias were still regrouping after one of their camp was invaded by Nigerian army few weeks ago.
“As we speak, the herdsmen are massively destroying farm crops and chasing people away from their farms. They have taken over some of our villages and farm land.
“We call on governor Agbu Kefas, and all relevant government authorities to intervene and prevent the deadly planned attack by the Fulani militia on our community,” Iorember, on behalf of the community called.
