The Yobe State government has donated sports kits and equipment to personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces and four paramilitary bodies as part of efforts to promote physical fitness and stronger collaboration among security agencies.

The kits were presented on Monday at the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Community Development headquarters in Damaturu.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Gidado Abubakar, handed over the items on behalf of the government.

Abubakar said the donation aligns with the state government’s broader commitment to youth development, community engagement and welfare programmes for uniformed services.
According to him, the agencies that received the kits include the Department of State Services (DSS), the Armed Forces, the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Police Force.
He added that other security formations would benefit in later phases of the programme.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the items distributed include 16 complete JC kits, two size-5 footballs, 12 pairs of football boots, tracksuits and socks.
Abubakar stated that priority was given to senior officers with the first sets allocated to State and City Commanders.
Receiving the items, Lieutenant Colonel W.O. Ahmed thanked the state government on behalf of the security agencies.
He said the equipment would improve training and morale among troops.
“I am honoured to receive these sports kits for our men and women. They will go a long way in advancing sports development within our services and fostering better relationships between agencies, especially if we hold joint competitions where personnel can wear the uniform with pride. Our officers will be very pleased with this support,” he said.
He also commended Governor Buni’s administration for its consistent partnership with security institutions and pledged that the materials would be used effectively to enhance fitness and teamwork among personnel.
