2027 Election Not a Do-or-Die Affair, Tinubu Tells Peter Obi, Atiku, Others.
How Nigerians?
Mr. President, see “pot calling the kettle black.”
The same president who said “All is fair in politics.” The same president who said “election is not served a la carte in a restaurant and must be grabbed, snatched and run with it at all costs.”
Those are not democratic principle words. Those are capo di tutti i capi words. Jungle words. Words that told young people: if you must win, snatch it. If you must win, grab it. If you must win, run with it at all costs.
And now, suddenly, 2027 is not do-or-die? Now suddenly we must play by the rules?
Does Mr. President think Nigerians have short memory? We were here. We heard. We saw.
Democracy is not “grab and run.” It is ballots, not bullets. It is debate, not desperation. It is service, not survival by force.
You cannot water a tree with petrol and then complain when it burns. You cannot preach peace with the same mouth that once preached war.
If 2027 must not be do-or-die, then let INEC be independent. Let the police be neutral. Let votes count. Let losers concede and winners govern.
Lead by example, not by revision.
Nigeria deserves leaders who were democratic yesterday, are democratic today, and will be democratic tomorrow.
