The Gombe State Police Command has announced a two-day shooting range exercise at the Gombe Military Shooting Range in Liji, Gombe State.
The exercise, according to the command, will take place from Wednesday, August 12, to Thursday, August 13, 2026, between 7am and 4pm each day.
The command disclosed this in a public announcement signed by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, on Tuesday.
Abdullahi said the exercise was part of routine activities by police personnel and urged residents and commuters around the area not to panic over the sound of gunshots.
He said, “The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a routine range exercise will be conducted by its personnel from Wednesday, 12th August to Thursday, 13th August, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, at the Gombe Military Shooting Range, Liji.”
The command advised members of the public, particularly residents and commuters within the vicinity of the shooting range, to avoid unnecessary movement around the designated area during the exercise.
The PPRO also warned members of the public against trespassing into the range area, stressing that the restriction was necessary to prevent avoidable incidents during the exercise.
“Members of the public are advised not to panic at the sound of gunshots during the stated period and to avoid unnecessary movement or trespassing around the designated range area for safety reasons,” Abdullahi said.
He further urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against going near the shooting range during the exercise.
The command also advised residents to comply with instructions from security personnel deployed around the area.
Abdullahi assured the public that the police appreciated their cooperation and understanding as the command continued efforts to maintain safety and security across the state.
The exercise is expected to end by 4pm on Thursday, August 13.
