The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced vacancies for suitably qualified Nigerians to fill nine positions across its operations in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Onne, Warri and Calabar.

The Authority said the recruitment was targeted at high-performing and innovative candidates capable of meeting deadlines and contributing to efficient port administration.
The available positions include Pilot Trainee, Marine Engineering Trainee, Trainee Seaman, Signalman-in-Training, Radio Officer II, Assistant Manager Radio, Marine Officer II, Senior Marine Officer/Engineer and Assistant Manager Harbours.
For the Pilot Trainee and Marine Engineering Trainee positions, applicants are required to possess a minimum of an OND in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering, alongside a valid Seafarers Medical Certificate of Fitness.
Applicants must also possess the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or its equivalent, while knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be an added advantage. Candidates must be between 20 and 27 years.
For Trainee Seaman and Signalman-in-Training, applicants must have at least five credits in science subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
The NPA said only candidates who obtained their certificates within the last eight years should apply for the two positions. Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years, with ICT knowledge listed as an added advantage.
The Authority is also recruiting Radio Officer II and Assistant Manager Radio. Candidates for these positions are expected to possess a BSc or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Information Technology, as well as relevant maritime certifications, including Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW 95) and Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
Applicants for the Assistant Manager Radio position must additionally possess 10 years of cognate experience.
Other vacancies include Marine Officer II, Senior Marine Officer/Engineer and Assistant Manager Harbours, with requirements ranging from OND in Nautical Science and relevant Certificates of Competency to Class 1 and Class 2 maritime qualifications, depending on the position.
The NPA also specified age requirements for the various positions, ranging from 22 to 35 years, while swimming ability is listed as a prerequisite for the Pilot Trainee and Assistant Manager Harbours positions.
Qualified candidates are required to submit applications accompanied by a comprehensive curriculum vitae containing their email addresses, contact addresses, telephone numbers and educational qualifications.
Applications may be submitted through the NPA careers portal, www.nigerianports.org/careers, or addressed to the General Manager, Human Resources, Nigerian Ports Authority, 26/28 Marina, Lagos.
The application window will remain open for six weeks from the date of publication.
The Authority said only shortlisted candidates would be invited for written tests, interviews and medical examinations.
It also warned applicants against fraudulent recruitment platforms, stressing that no fee is required at any stage of the NPA recruitment process.
The NPA urged members of the public to disregard websites purportedly representing the Authority and soliciting payment for employment, advising applicants to use only the official recruitment channel provided.
