The Plateau State Government has condemned the early Tuesday attack on Bin Mper community in Kombun District of Mangu Local Government Area, describing the incident as “disturbing” and capable of undermining ongoing peace efforts in the state.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government expressed sympathy with affected residents and families, noting that security agencies have been mobilised to respond to the situation.
The government urged residents of the area to remain calm and avoid any form of reprisal, warning that taking the law into one’s hands could escalate tensions and worsen the security situation.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, according to the statement, has directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and patrols across Bin Mper, Kombun District, and other vulnerable communities within Mangu LGA.
Authorities also appealed to residents to support ongoing investigations by providing credible and timely information that could assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the government said the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of the administration. It added that it is working closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and religious organisations, as well as security agencies, to strengthen peaceful coexistence across the state.
Residents of Bin Mper and adjoining communities were further urged to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security authorities.
