President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

Enitan, currently Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, will succeed Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The Osun State-born civil servant is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, having served for seven years and seven months in the Ministries of Police Affairs and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the Office of the Vice President.
The Presidency said Enitan’s extensive experience and knowledge of the Federal Civil Service positioned him for the top administrative role.
Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her service to the nation, particularly her contributions to reforms and innovations in the Civil Service.
The President charged Enitan to sustain ongoing reforms, strengthen professionalism and efficiency, and build a merit-driven, accountable and responsive Civil Service capable of delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enitan, born on December 12, 1966, holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
