“Let my people go” is a famous biblical phrase spoken by Moses to Pharaoh in the Book of Exodus, demanding freedom so the Israelites could worship God. Today, Osun people are saying to President Tinubu, let Osun people elect their Governor on August 15th.

Davido has sent a strong message to Hope Uzodimma, “Allow Osun people choose.”

On live video, partying with Mayorkun and Fola, the singer dropped the music and picked up politics. He vowed to head to the White House and contact President Donald Trump over what the Tinubu-led government is allegedly planning in Osun State. It was part celebration, part final warning.

Nigerians should not laugh this off as celebrity drama. When artists with global reach start talking “White House” and “election interference,” it means local frustration has hit a breaking point.

The context matters. The EFCC froze Osun government accounts ten days to the election. LG allocations have been confiscated for over a year. The pattern looks familiar: starve the state, blame the governor, then control the outcome.

Davido’s intervention is not about party. It is about process. “Allow Osun people choose” is the simplest democratic demand, yet it now sounds radical.

Whether Trump picks the call or not is beside the point. The message has landed: the world is watching.

If Abuja truly believes in democracy, then release Osun’s funds, keep federal agencies neutral, and let votes count.

Anything else confirms what many already suspect, that 2026 is being written before ballots are printed.
