Submit to the party: Uzodinma reads riot act to Wike over party subversion

The political space in Nigeria has lately been assaulted by the noisy, toxic, and self-serving theatrics of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Operating under the delusions of an unhinged political landlord, Wike has continuously attempted to weaponize his nominal support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to advance a parochial, self-aggrandizing agenda.

His so-called “Rainbow Coalition” is nothing short of a Trojan horse—a crude and duplicitous political contrivance designed to subvert the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while masquerading as a pro-government movement.

By seeking to carve out fiefdoms where he dictates who runs and who hides, Wike has consistently sowed seeds of disaffection and destabilization within the machinery of the APC and the broader architecture of President Tinubu’s administration.

It is the height of political absurdity for any individual, no matter how inflated their sense of self-importance may be, to arrogate to themselves the monopoly of loyalty to the President.

Wike’s grandstanding rests on the false premise that he is the sole custodian of President Tinubu’s 2027 mandate, while treating governors and elected structures of the ruling party with contemptuous disdain.

True loyalty to a Commander-in-Chief does not involve running a parallel, conflicting cross-party racket that aims to undermine APC candidates at the sub-national levels.

Wike must be reminded that his opportunistic posturing is transparently fraudulent; true political relevance is earned through institutional fidelity, not through media bluster and desperate shadow-boxing.

The All Progressives Congress is a disciplined, ideologically grounded mass party governed by rules, structures, and constitutional order, not a personal estate for political mercenaries.

Governor Hope Uzodimma, speaking categorically on behalf of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, has laid down the immutable baseline: “Wike should be educated to subsume his ego, clownish politics, and uncanny brashness to the leadership of the APC, and he should be told that Nigeria is practicing party democracy under APC progressive ideology, driven by President Tinubu, the APC Governors, and the National Assembly under the leadership of the APC.”

Ego-driven grandstanding cannot take precedence over party survival, nor can a card-carrying member of an opposition party dictate terms to the ruling platform.

Let it be crystal clear to Wike and his hirelings that the desperate, malicious campaigns of calumny directed at Governor Hope Uzodimma and other progressive governors are covert assaults on the presidency itself.

By trying to weaken the leadership of the APC Governors’ Forum, Wike is directly undermining the primary political flank defending President Tinubu’s reforms. There is no artificial dichotomy between the APC governors and the President.

Any attempt to drive a wedge between the party’s sub-national pillars and the national leadership is a direct hostility toward the Tinubu administration, and it will be resisted with absolute institutional might.

Wike’s invention of a “Rainbow Coalition” is a blatant attempt to create a smoke-and-mirrors structure that aids his local political survival while sabotaging loyal APC stalwarts.

He claims he wants to support the President while simultaneously reserving the right to undermine APC candidates in governorship and legislative races.

This duplicity is unsustainable and insulting to the collective intelligence of party faithful. The APC governors, under the steadfast leadership of Governor Uzodimma, have rightly slammed the door on this toxic contravention.

The APC as a party should be proud of its Governors, and it is not for Wike to cast aspersions or pass judgement. Playing team is important but Wike’s solo service can only hurt APC in the long run.

The party cannot nurse vipers in its bosom who preach unity at the presidential level while sharpening daggers for APC candidates at the state levels.

Politics is an arena of rigorous ideological engagement, systemic strategy, and resilient grassroots organization—not a theatre for tantrums and infantile intimidation.

If Nyesom Wike is too thin-skinned to stomach pushback from principled leaders who refuse to bow to his authoritarian posturing, the path of honor is clear: he should get out of the kitchen.

The progressive governors are seasoned political tacticians who will not be cowed by empty threats, unbridled arrogance, or the bitter rants of a man accustomed to having his way through bullying rather than genuine persuasion.

The preposterous claim by Wike that he is the sole purveyor of electoral victories must be punctured with the reality of his own local limitations.

The progressive Governor’s Forum in its stance aptly noted that politics is local, and no external godfather can substitute for genuine grassroots connection. Wike’s hollow threats that he “won’t be the one to help people win elections in their states” expose his profound delusions of grandeur.

The APC and its governors do not require the patronizing benevolence of a political transit passenger to secure electoral mandates in their respective domains. Real elections are won at the polling units through integrity, service, and party loyalty—not through media soundbites.

Wike’s resort to historical revisionism regarding past elections only exposes his ignorance of modern Nigerian political behavior. Voters in contemporary Nigeria are discerning and discriminate between executive choices; they are never confused by structured party loyalty.

When Wike attempts to mock states where voters exercised independent legislative choices while backing presidential candidates, he betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of the very grassroots mobilization he pretends to champion.

The APC governors understand their local terrains far better than any transient noise-maker hiding behind federal portfolios.

A political party cannot survive if it tolerates dual loyalties and destructive subversions from within or from auxiliary opportunists. Wike’s antics represent a clear and present danger to internal party cohesion.

By treating the APC platform as an accessory to his personal political survival, he crosses the line from an ally of convenience to an active liability. Party discipline demands that those who cannot conform to collective resolutions and respect the leadership of the party hierarchy must be checked, contained, and put in their proper place.

The singular focus of the APC and its governors remains the unalloyed success and re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the comprehensive victory of all APC candidates across board.

This objective cannot be subordinated to the egoistic bargaining chips of a political actor whose loyalties shift with the blowing wind. Distractions orchestrated to whip up sentiments for personal political survival will be treated with the contempt they deserve.

The governors are united, resolute, and focused on building a rock-solid, uncompromised electoral wall for the President.

The era of political freebooting—where individuals seek to reap where they have not sown by hijacking party structures—is over. Governor Hope Uzodimma’s resolute pushback marks a definitive line in the sand against political brigandage.

The APC will not mortgage its integrity, nor will its governors surrender their constitutional and political responsibilities to an itinerant bully. Wike must realize that his blighting, damaging, and disruptive antics have met their match in the collective steel and resolve of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

Ultimately, Nyesom Wike stands at a historic crossroads: he must learn the rudiments of basic political decorum, shed his clownish toga of self-imposing omnipotence, and align himself unreservedly with the established hierarchy and discipline of the ruling party under President Tinubu.

Continuing down the path of disruptive grandstanding will lead only to total political isolation. The APC is greater than any single individual, and its leadership, personified by progressive stalwarts like Governor Hope Uzodimma, will neither bend nor break before empty bravado.

The heat in the kitchen is rising, and if Wike cannot stand it, he knows precisely what to do.
