Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Saturday sent a high-powered delegation to Yola, Adamawa State, to commiserate with the Adamawa State Government and the family of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died recently at the age of 90.
Leading the delegation, the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, conveyed the sympathies of the Governor and the people of Gombe State over the loss of the elder statesman, who contributed to the development of Adamawa State and the country as a whole.
He described the death as devastating, noting that the deceased lived a fulfilled life, and urged the family to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Prof. Njodi said the death was a huge loss not only to the immediate family and the Adamawa State Government, but also to the North-East and the country at large.
He prayed to Allah to grant the late statesman eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, reminding the family that, “From Allah we came and to Him we shall return.”
Prof. Njodi, who is also Chairman of the Forum of Secretaries to State Governments of Northern Nigeria and the North-East, conveyed the condolences of his colleagues to the Adamawa State SSG, Hon. Auwal Bamanga Tukur.
“On behalf of the forum of Northern/North-East SSGs, of which you are a member, please accept our condolences,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Auwal Bamanga Tukur, an elder son of the deceased and the Tafidan Adamawa, thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sending such a high-level delegation to identify with the family in their moment of grief.
He added that the family would not take for granted the show of love and solidarity by the Governor and the SSG.
He prayed to God to reward the Gombe State Governor and bless his administration.
The delegation included the Commissioners for Housing and Urban Development, Mohammed Saidu Mohammed; Environment and Forest Resources, Yusuf K. Jalingo; Energy and Mineral Resources, Sanusi Ahmed; and Trade and Industry, Mohammed Nasiru Aliyu.
Others were the Permanent Secretaries for State Services and Political Affairs, Salihu Adamu Sambo; Education/BPSR, Abubakar Hassan; and General Duties, Balarabe Musa, as well as the Directors of Cabinet and State Services and Political Affairs, Ado Tafida and Bala Sarki, respectively.
Special prayers were offered for the repose of the deceased and for the comfort of the bereaved family.
Also present at the condolence visit were the former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, immediate family members, relations and other well-wishers.
