Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe has explained the reasons behind his resignation as Coordinator of the Aminu Yuguda Political Movement, saying his continued coordination of the group had become increasingly difficult to reconcile with his principles on public affairs.

Gara Gombe, in a statement announcing his resignation, said he had made significant personal sacrifices, endured insults and tolerated individuals whose approach to political engagement differed from his, all in the interest of the movement and the political aspirations of former Accountant- General of Gombe State, Dr Aminu Yuguda.

He said: “You may recall when this journey started and all that followed afterwards. I have taken responsibilities that were unusually mine, I have taken insults that I normally would not accept, and I have tolerated people whose lanes, ordinarily, are not the same as mine, all for our collective interest and for Aminu Yuguda’s political aspirations.”

According to him, his decision to resign was also informed by his inability to reconcile his continued role as coordinator with his principles regarding public affairs and leadership.

“I can no longer reconcile my continued coordination of this group with my principles in public affairs,” he stated.

Gara Gombe further expressed concern over what he described as difficulties in communicating with Yuguda, alleging that the former State accountant General no longer answered his calls.

“AYG no longer picks my calls, for reasons best known to him. Most of my advice on how to manage our members and retain your loyalty was ignored. Some think I am not doing enough to manage the movement,” he said.

Despite his resignation, Gara Gombe expressed appreciation to members of the movement for entrusting him with its leadership.

“I thank you most sincerely for finding me worthy to lead you as the Coordinator of Aminu Yuguda Political Movement,” he said.

He, however, assured members and the people of Gombe State that his resignation from the movement would not end his commitment to contributing to the development of the state.

“Life must go on, and in the interest of Gombe State and its people, I will continue to make my contributions to the development of our society,” he stated.

He subsequently announced his resignation from the position, saying the decision was taken “without prejudice.”

“Accordingly, I wish to resign my position as the Coordinator of AYG Political Movement, without prejudice,” Gara Gombe declared.
