The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone E (North-East), on Saturday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to GUO Transport to take responsibility for the burial arrangements of a deceased person reportedly killed in a road accident involving the company’s vehicle.

The association also demanded that the transport company engage meaningfully with the bereaved family and provide adequate support to address their concerns.
In a statement signed by the Office of the Coordinator, NANS Zone E, the students’ body said GUO Transport must demonstrate its commitment to justice, accountability and compassion by responding to the family’s demands within 48 hours.
“NANS Zone E demands immediate action, adequate support for the bereaved family, and a clear commitment to justice and accountability,” the statement said.
The association warned that failure by the company to comply with the ultimatum would prompt coordinated and lawful actions against its business operations across the North-East.
“Failure to comply within 48 hours will trigger coordinated, lawful actions against GUO Transport’s business operations across NANS Zone E, until the company demonstrates its willingness to address the family’s concerns,” it added.
NANS said it would not remain silent in the face of what it described as injustice, urging the transport company to treat the incident with the seriousness and urgency it deserved.
The association also called on GUO Transport to demonstrate compassion towards the bereaved family and take concrete steps to address the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
