Vice-President Kashim Shettima has taken a swipe at former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as more like Odinga Odinga than Abraham Lincoln.
Shettima made the remarks at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa.
Speaking about how Atiku should be addressed, Shettima said he preferred to recognise President Bola Tinubu by his official title, regardless of the name people chose to call him.
“You can call him Bola. If you like, you can call him Adekunle. But the truth is, he is the President of Nigeria,” he said.
The Vice-President added that he would continue to address Atiku by his official title rather than adopt the nickname reportedly used by Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“I will respect Atiku and call him former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. I will not follow suit with the maverick Babachir Lawal to call him Kachalla,” Shettima said.
He also questioned Atiku’s repeated presidential ambitions, saying, “Atiku, who has contested the presidency for the eighth time, is no Abraham Lincoln.”
“He’s more of Odinga Odinga,” the Vice-President added.
