Vice-President Kashim Shettima has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi over his economic prescriptions, arguing that policies that work in Bangladesh may not necessarily succeed in Nigeria.
Shettima said Nigeria’s population and economic structure differ significantly from those of Bangladesh, making it inappropriate to adopt another country’s economic model without considering local realities.
He said, “Peter Obi, the master of bourgeois statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions, seems convinced that a size 36 shirt tailored for Bangladesh will somehow fit Nigeria’s size 52 frame.
“What succeeds in Bangladesh cannot simply be transplanted to Nigeria without accounting for differences in our population and economic structure.”
